Legend has it that Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream was first performed in the courtyard of an inn in Stratford-upon-Avon. With the comfort and ease available in today's times, it's almost a pity licensing laws prevent us from recreating this event. However the best in leisure facilities are at your beck and call!

Did you know Jackson County is renowned as a bird-watchers paradise!
Not many people do. Which is a good thing if you are into birding, because it means you get more quality time with your favorite species.
If you've only ever sped down I-94 theres a lot more than what can be easily seen over the dashboard. Jackson County's topography is as unexpected as its bird population. Wander woodland paths, hike around sparkling lakes, and view habitats that have, miraculously, been mainly untouched by human development.
Why not plan a weekend? Watch a play and your fine-feathered friends all in one day. And if you take in Pygmalion, you may see some pretty plumage onstage as well!
Visit www.visitjacksonmi.com/index.php/Birdwatchers/ for more information, and for great lodging and dining ideas.
Here's an amazing fact: Michigan's Jackson County has more public golf courses per capita than any other US city except for Sarasota, Florida.
Hit the links in the morning and then celebrate lowering your handicap with an evening of Classic Theatre at the Michigan Shakespeare Festival!

Shakespeare was no stranger to wine:
"A good Sherris-Sack hath a two-fold operation in it: it ascends me into the Braine, Dryes me there, all the foolish, and dull, and cruddie Vapours, which environ it: makes it apprehensive, quicke, forgetive, full of nimble, fierie, and delectable shapes; which deliverd oer to the Voyce, the Tongue, which is the Birth, becomes excellent Wit. --Falstaff in 2 Henry IV Act II Scene III
"Good wine is a good familiar creature if it is well used."
--Iago in Othello Act II Scene III
And this was back when quality and price were always iffy. Today, both wines and vines are gaining in reputation, style, and substance. And just like Shakespeare's words, there is much to be savored.

Michigan's First State Prison, once the worlds largest walled prison, is now Armory Arts Village, a resident artists' community listed on MSN in the top ten most unique buildings in the world in which to live. The 25' stone and granite wall with guard turrets surround it. Here visitors hear fascinating history, tales of prison life, colorful inmates, punishments, reforms, and see old solitary cells. They visit artists in their studios built out of prison cells, and see how this old brick and mortar building has gone from historic prison to artistic vision. Then, they board a bus to fully intact Seven-Block (1934-2007), on the closed area of the Southern Michigan State Prison. This is where inmates went from the First Prison when it closed in 1934.
Tours run from May to October. To tour the prison, contact:
