Chania Vondell is a Harrison High School alumni, currently pursuing a psychology degree with UoM while simultaneously giving time and energy to one of her biggest passions, being an entertainer.
After a recent hiatus from the Metro Detroit scene, she is rejoining the Misfits crew for the 2026 tour season.
Chania has held a fondness for the arts for as long as she can remember. With training in dance and vocal performance, she debuted her first role at the age of 3 and since then has participated in a long list of productions.
Her favorite roles have been Ursula in The Little Mermaid, MotorMouth Maybelle in Hairspray, Dorothy in the Wiz and Dolores in Sister Act.
She’s also accredited to doing other work with Black and Brown Theater, Shakespeare Royal Oak, the American Immersion Theatre, being featured in indie short films, directing and choreographing middle school plays and musicals in Oakland County, and being a writer on independent shows performed on the stages of the Detroit Opera House and Fox Theater.
Her other skills and passions include being a trained fighter for 13 years, a cellist for 12, a backup singer for local bands, and a creative writer currently working on her first novel.
She is thrilled to be continuing her work under the direction of MSF once again, and is excited to bring in a new and enlightening experience to the audiences that get to witness what a live Shakespeare performance is like.
She would like to give a shout out to the individuals who have done nothing but offer genuine support, love and care throughout the years. Her mom, for never stifling any dream she hoped to accomplish, even if short-lived. Faith Berry, Cathy Cordle, and Rachael Rose for pushing her past comfortability and learning the beauty of being willing to take risks. And an extensive list of incredible family and friends that have held her up along her journey and helped her see the power of her own capabilities and beyond.
