The MSF is holding auditions for the
2026-27 High School Touring Company:
the MiSFITs
September 11, 4 PM - 10 PM
& September 12, 10 AM - 3 PM
Old Main, 4841 Cass Avenue, Detroit
Actors will be hired to rehearse and perform Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet in rep for high schools in Michigan, northern Ohio, and northern Indiana.
Casting:

10 actors, multiple covers

MSF practices inclusive casting
Prepare:
-
2 contrasting monologues totaling no more than 3 minutes.

1 must be Shakespeare - show off the verse - the other can be something else that shows off your range - we recommend showing off your humor.
Pay:
-
Actors will receive $80/performance
-
Additional pay for further-away (outside Wayne / Washtenaw / Oakland / Macomb counties) performances

Paid weekly, at final show of the week, unless there is only one performance that week and then that show's pay is tacked on to another week's.

Transportation is not provided, but carpools are encouraged and carpool drivers will receive additional gas pay.
Rehearsals:

Calls to Actors will be made by September 14—please do not call the office.

Upon casting, scripts will be immediately sent to actors.

First Zoom Rehearsal: Table Rehearsals will be held, over zoom, evenings from Sept 21 – October 3, Mon - Thurs, 7 – 10 PM

Not all actors will be called for all of those rehearsals – schedules will work around actor conflicts as much as possible

Not all actors will be called for all rehearsals - although they are welcome to attend.

Schedule will be sent by September 27

Actors are allowed to miss some rehearsals without it being a problem. Some scheduling accommodations can be made – for instance, if an actor has another job 2 nights/week.
Performances:

Three blocks of availability for shows are being marketed to the schools:

October 19 - December 17

January 18 - Feb 12

March 15 - June 4

Performances are booked around schools’ bell schedules
-
Most performances will be mornings (Mon-Fri)
-
Usually starting between 8:15 AM – 10 AM
-
Some afternoons and some two-show days
-

The Tour will be also booking performances at retirement facilities and community centers this season - same Mon-Fri daytime schedule.

Booking will continue through the season and we expect at least 40 performances.

Actors will ALWAYS have AT LEAST three weeks’ notice for an added performance – but flexible schedules are best.

Updated calendars will be sent each Friday with any new shows added.

There will be TBA public performances

Actors will have at least a month's notice.

These performances are paid.
