The MSF is holding auditions for the 2026 High School Touring Company: the MiSFITs
January 30, 5 PM - 10 PM
& January 31, 10 AM - 3 PM
4402 Old Main, 4841 Cass Avenue, Detroit
Actors will be hired to rehearse and perform Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet in rep for high schools in Michigan, northern Ohio, and northern Indiana.
The Tour is non-union.
Casting:

10 actors, 3 covers

MSF practices inclusive casting
Prepare:
-
2 contrasting monologues totalling no more than 3 minutes.

1 must be Shakespeare, the other can be, or be something else that shows off your range.
Pay:
-
Actors will receive $80/performance with additional pay for further-away (outside Wayne / Washtenaw / Oakland / Macomb counties) performances – paid bi-weekly on Fridays.

Transportation is not provided, but carpools are encouraged and carpool drivers will receive additional gas pay.
Important Dates and Scheduling:

Calls to Actors will be made by February 3—please do not call the office.

Upon casting, scripts will be immediately sent to actors.

First Zoom Rehearsal: Table Rehearsals will be held, over zoom, evenings from Feb 9 – Feb 18

Rehearsals: Feb 19 – March 9 at Old Main in Detroit. Hours TBA, but generally evenings. Actors are allowed to miss a couple of rehearsals without it being a problem. Some scheduling accommodations can be made – for instance, if an actor has another job 2 nights/week.

We will try to rehearse 5 hours/day or so.

There will be 2-4 public performances set the weekend of March 13, 7:30 PM or 2 PM Saturday.

Tour is set to begin: March 9 and will run through June 2.

Performances are booked around schools’ bell schedules, so most performances will be mornings (Mon-Fri) usually starting between 8:15 AM – 10 AM, with some two-day shows lasting into afternoon.

There are currently 12 performances booked – but booking will continue through the season and we expect at least 20 performances.

Actors will ALWAYS have AT LEAST three weeks’ notice for an added performance – but flexible schedules are best.

The MSF does not use vocal enhancement for our productions. Strong vocal technique is expected.
